CGS Latin Guitar Quartet Auditions

Join us and perform a selection of Spanish and South American music in our latin guitar quartet. This ensemble offers the guitarist a challenging musical escenario to develop reading, improvisation and performance skills in latin guitar musicals styles as: Tangos, Son, Rumba, Boleros, Danzon.

Who can join?

Acoustic and nylon string Guitarists with intermediate reading skills and knowledge in improvisation.

What repertoire will we play?

We will perform 4 part compositions in the following styles: Tangos, Son, Rumba, Boleros, Danzón.

Dates of the course

Friday evenings at 6 pm starting March 13.

Duration of the course

10 weeks plus our Guitar Concert on May 15 at 7 pm at the Armadale Uniting  Church, 86 a Kooyong road, Armadale, VIC.

Students must

Students are required to study a minimum of 30 minutes a day to finalise all repertoire for the concert date. There will be a total of 6 compositions . You need to finalise a satisfactory interpretation of each composition in the same week I hand it over to you

Audition dates

March 7,  10 to 12 pm at the Creative Guitar School.

How to prepare?

Send a recording of yourself playing a latin style composition to ( info (at) thomaslorenzo.com.au)  where you demonstrate your reading and improvisational skills. Be sure to include in your email, your full name and phone number. You will receive an  invitation to audition if your application has been successful.

The audition

In the audition at the Creative Guitar School on March 7, you will perform a solo piece and I will ask you to read and improvise over a composition in a diatonic key with secondary dominants.

Successful candidates

You will  be notified on Monday, March 9, of the result of your audition. Once you have enrolled in the course I will give you the score and recording for the first meeting of our ensemble.
